Alumni Nominations

The selection of awardees is based on your detailed description of your candidate’s accomplishments.  Your nomination should highlight and help to explain how your candidate meets the general and specific award criteria.

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to honor an outstanding alumnus.

  1. All candidates must meet the following criteria:
    1. Graduate of Saint Francis School/College of Nursing
    2. At least three years of professional nursing practice experience in the area of nominated award.
  2. Nominations for the Alumni Hall of Fame Award or Ruby Cealey Award may be awarded posthumously.
  3. All materials received for consideration are confidential.
  4. All nominees with detailed descriptions of accomplishments will be considered.
  5. Recipients will be notified in advance of the award to make plans to attend the Homecoming Celebration.

Please write, how your nominee meets the following:

  1. Serves as an outstanding role model to other professional nurses.
  2. Demonstrates characteristics that reflect the highest professional nursing standards.
  3. Is viewed as an exemplary nurse demonstrating respect and compassion by clients/patients/families.
  4. Research & Development involving programs that improve patient care.
  5. Is or has been a change agent in the delivery of care and influence on nursing practice.
  6. Candidate inspires others to a higher level of performance
  7. Published articles or chapters that influenced education, administration, or practice.
  8. Contributions as an elected officer in nursing professional organizations, service, and influence on nursing practice.
  9. Received prior recognition for nursing excellence.
  10. Other qualifications you know about the person.

 

Outstanding Alumnus Award Information

Ruby Cealey - The Alumni Committee of the College of Nursing established the Ruby Cealey Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998 in memory of Ruby Dhesse Cealey, who was a 1950 graduate of the School of Nursing.  She taught for many years at the School, as well as, the College of Nursing.  This winner of this award should be a person who demonstrates caring, professionalism, leadership, community service and contributions to the profession.

Outstanding Alumni – Excellence in Leadership

Purpose:  To recognize and honor an alumnus who has exhibited excellence in nursing leadership.  The Outstanding Alumni – Excellence in Leadership will be awarded annually. 

Please consider the following criteria as you complete your written nomination application:

  1. Functions as a member in facilitating the growth and future development of nurses.
  2. Serves as an outstanding role model to other professional nurses.
  3. Has positively influenced health care at the institutional, local, regional, national, or international levels.
  4. Demonstrates leadership and a commitment to improving nursing and health care through involvement in professional and community activities.
  5. Demonstrates characteristics that reflect the highest professional nursing standards.

 

Outstanding Alumni – Excellence in Education

Purpose:  To recognize and honor an alumnus who has exhibited excellence in nursing g education and professional development.  The Outstanding Alumni – Excellence in Education will be awarded annually.

Please consider the following criteria as you complete your written nomination application:

  1. Demonstrates characteristics that reflect the highest professional nursing standards.
  2. Functions as a mentor in facilitating the growth and future development of nurses.
  3. Serves as an outstanding role model to other professional nurses.

 

Outstanding Alumni – Excellence in Practice

Purpose:  To recognize and honor a nurse alumnus who has exhibited excellence in nursing practice.  The Outstanding Alumni – Excellence in Practice Award will be awarded annually.

Please consider the following criteria as you complete your written nomination application:

  1. Viewed as an excellent nurse by peers and the public by demonstrating the skills, attitudes, knowledge, qualities, and values of a professional nurse.
  2. Functions as a mentor in facilitating the growth and future development of nurses.
  3. Is viewed as an exemplary nurse by clients/patients/families.
  4. Serves as an outstanding role model to other professional nurses.
  5. Is a role model/mentor for others through outstanding nursing practice.
  6. Demonstrates characteristics that reflect the highest professional nursing standards.
